I was looking back through some older articles today and was shocked to see some articles that I thought were relatively more recent were published nearly three years ago!
I know the site is 3 years old now, and my early retirement is inching up on 4 years, but WOW time flies.
My kids are growing so fast now, we are starting to deal with “big kid” problems rather than the cute toddler tantrums.
My wife and I’s parents are getting older and dealing with more health issues.
The hair on the back of my head thins ever faster now…
It Is All Going By Too Fast!
I can’t grasp it hard enough.
I can’t hold on to it tight enough.
Even with early retirement. Even with the knowledge that all we have is today.
It all reminds me of the Macklemore song featuring Kesha, “Good Old Days.“
No song rings more true every damn time I hear it:
It’s a good reminder that these are the good old days.
NOW.
NOW.
NOW.
My one takeaway from this life is to enjoy the present moment.
The good.
The bad.
EVERYTHING!
It’s the hardest thing to do, and it’s the thing that I struggle with the most, but damn if I don’t keep on trying to be more present in my life.
My ONE life.
It doesn’t matter if you are working your ass off trying to make ends meet, working your way to financial independence, or early retired.
It all goes by too fast.
So find ways to enjoy your ONE life!
