It’s that time of year!
No matter what you do, things seem to get busier and busier.
The stress piles on despite your best efforts to get ahead of the game.
There’s holiday stress, family stress, work stress…you name it it’s there.
So something is going to slip through the cracks.
When You’ve Taken On Too Much
Lately, I have had too much on my plate.
I’ve been busting my butt trying to save my affiliate site.
I’ve been trying to get creative to launch a new cash-flowing side hustle.
I’ve been taking a more proactive role in buying holiday presents.
I’ve been working on finalizing our healthcare plans for next year.
I’ve been attempting to support my wife better this season with whatever she needs (note, I said attempting).
Let us also not forget about end-of-year tax planning!
And on top of all that, we took two trips in the last few weeks.
Something has to slip through the cracks!
It needs to slip through the cracks.
There’s only one solution: letting it slip through!
The Art of Letting Things Slip Through the Cracks
This is a reminder to me as much as anyone.
You are only human.
You can’t do it all.
It is okay to let things slip through the cracks!
Do you really need to go to that Christmas party?
Do you really need to take your kids to that activity?
Do you really need to do XYZ at work right now?
In all these cases the answer is probably no.
I do it.
You do it.
We all do it.
So is there an art to letting things go? Yes.
Write It Down. Cross It Out.
That’s it. Write it down. Cross it out.
Make a list of all the things that you need to let slip through the cracks.
Here’s a list of things that I will let slip through the cracks and then cross them off:

The trick is that when you cross them off you have to really let it go.
Kill it from your brain.
Delete it from your memory.
Cross it off twice if you have to.
Everything you do or “need” to do takes up space.
If you don’t free up space, it’s hard to be present and enjoy this one shot at life that we have.
It’s okay to let things go.
Better yet, harness the ability to let things slip through the cracks.
Let them slip through the cracks. Then delete them from your memory.
It’ll all turn out just right in the end.
Nobody can do it all!
But you can let a few things go along the way. I know I will!
